We spent yesterday catching up on some administrative things and doing more exploring in Clarksdale. We visited the Delta Blues Museum. As with most things, the bits of history that are commonly known are just a tiny slice of the whole story. I wasn’t at all aware of the number of blues artists from the area or their impact. The museum does an impressive job of displaying and telling their stories, even though many of the musicians never became household names outside the area. We had a great meal at Hooker’s, a market-turned-restaurant, and then topped off the night by going to Red’s to see some blues. I don’t know who was playing last night, since we missed the introduction, but he was a young guy who sure knew how to put on a show.

We have one more day here in Clarksdale, then we’ll ride up to Memphis for a couple of nights. I’m looking forward to getting some more barbecue and seeing what a city that’s new to me has to offer. We’re also likely to hit our first rain of this trip, so it’s time to pull out all the gear.
